Splendid’s new talent development programmes

SHG Hospitality Management is relaunching its Ignite and Inspire Programmes – Management development schemes for hospitality professionals showing great promise.

These programmes are designed to both ignite new potential managers as their first step towards management and then continue to develop and inspire managers already leading their teams. These skills can then be developed working on live projects that will be beneficial to the business and their own personal development.

The Ignite candidates from this 2022 intake are coming to the end of this years programme and will be due to deliver their final presentations in February. Splendid are now looking to recruit new candidates to start their journey in 2023.

The Ignite programme is an introduction into management and it the first step in training to become a manager in the business and focuses on learning about the different aspects on management at a basic level.

2022 saw the intake of 20 candidates as they went through a thorough assessment and selection process and they have participated in a series of hotel management masterclasses focusing on self- development in topics from objective setting to financial and commercial awareness.

One of this years delegates Guilia said
‘Ignite has been a very interesting journey for me. It gave me the opportunity to learn and be exposed to new things.
The topics are all interesting, useful, relevant. Of course, it’s probably more operationally driven, considering the nature of our business (and I’m not in a operational department).
The possibility to prepare and deliver a presentation was definitely a must. It’s a commitment, but if you are motivated, I would definitely recommend the course.’

When discussing the program, Nicola Forrester, Group Learning and Development Manager at SHG, said:

“Investing in training and development remains a key focus for SHG at a time when attracting and retaining talent is proving difficult across the hospitality industry. I strongly believe that offering development opportunities is essential when it comes to retention of our talented team.

By offering management development to our SFMs we are ensuring that we promote and retain the most suitable and talented people into our management positions with fresh ideas based on sound facts and proven methodologies”
